Official 8.33 kHz channels

Postby Minus1 » Tue Dec 27, 2016 4:15 pm

I came across this, by Eurocontrol, that lists example 8.33 kHz channels and confirms that they are indeed officially called 'channels', not frequencies.
(The 25 kHz ones are still called 'frequencies'.)

I reserve the right to ignore people who have made no attempt to the read the manual, and expect others to do it for them.

That's because frequencies are exact and specific - channels however is just a 'name' and as many of the official designators are just convenient sideways moves from the actual frequency, the new system does need simplifying for those quick transmissions when people have to say them - the real ones are just too long! Sounds like common sense to me.
