Postby Alfie » Wed Jan 04, 2017 3:24 pm

I know a lot of the abbreviations for milair like AWACS = airborne early warning and control system and TAD = tactical air designator but can anyone tell me what CAOC 09 is ? I see it on a lot of mil listings but a google search doesnt turn up what it means ?

thelad's book is correct but with reference to the OP CAOC 09 no longer exists (hasn't for quite some time!)

Europe now (since 2103) has two CAOCs - North (at Uedem) and South (at Torrejon).
(and prior to that re-organisation the UK was part of the operation at Finderup rather than being in the UK as 09)

I suspect hobby listeners still use the name as a way of labelling certain frequencies despite it being incorrect?
