Newbie from Lincs and question 270.05.

Postby ChrisG » Mon Jan 16, 2017 11:34 am

Good morning all,

Well, this is my first post here, so a little introduction. I live in a small village south of Grimsby near RAF Donna Nook. Originally from Holland, I still work there, flying on the A330. But as military aviation has always been my main interest, I decided to dig up my 30+ year old scanner, only to find out it is busted.
So, I bought myself a UBC125XLT scanner with a Nagayo NA-771 aerial and will hopefully install an X-30 antenna on my roof for a bit better reception. I receive loads of good returns from Air to Air frequencies, mainly from Lakenheath F-15's, Marham Tornados and Typhoons from Conningsby.
I hear them switching a lot to frequency 270.05, but cant find this freq back in any of the lists...anyone got any idea which controller this is???

Kind Regards,

ChrisG

You can watch many of the aircraft above you via..
https://www.flightradar24.com/53.19,0.22/8

Not everything is shown on Flight Radar, but it does add to the hobby & for the shipping version try.

Thanks for all the info!!! I thought Shanwick would only do all the OCA traffic heading out west. Any other frequencies people can recommend, so far I have most squadrons A/A and Ops freqs programmed, and ofcourse the Donna Nook ones. Any other popular control freqs in this area (Lincs)?

Cheers,

For Swanwick Mill all you need is the ICFs and you'll get the handoffs from those.
Tactical stuff is then just a case of listening to the aircraft on the day.

Both far better than taking old inaccurate / out of date lists and filling up scanner memory (yes, I know lots of scanners have large memory capacity....but large number of useless freqs being scanned = missed comms)
