The air ambulances use the local atc frequencies in the area that they are operating in . If you are near one of their base airfields try monitoring the tower and radar frequencies for that base. You wont be able to monitor their air to ground operations comms

Thanks Chris P, dint have the airwaves book to hand to list them. I have Topcliffe Tower in the scanner as 122.20mhz and that was used by YAA On a visit to them. Also LBA are using 134.575 MHZ. For the Approach/Zone/Radar now.

Thanks thelad . The frequency I gave for LBA is from airwaves 2015 ( which sadly appears to be the last print run ) which is out of date and that for Topcliffe was the only VHF frequency listed. I do remember seeing an amendment for LBA in a notam somewhere

NATS list 133.125 on the AIP for LBA radar as of 2nd Feb 2017 so that is another possible frequency for the YAA

Topcliffe may also use 122.1 which is a common NATO VHF frequency (they should have a set up at Topcliffe for that )

NATS is out of date then, 133.125 went in December 2016. Bad if Nats cant even keep upto date.

Topclife AFIS appears on one website listing as 122.7. too no wonder some GA pilots have trouble contacting the relevant ATC especially if NATS have it wrong on the latest AIP
