EWS are using 446 channel 1 on 94.8, Freightliner were using channel 6 on 79.9 and channel 8 on DCS754, but I haven't heard them for a while. The Ayr line is seeing extra freight on it because of the West Coast situation.

Those trains unable to go via Mauchline have to have the engines run round their loads at the FHH sidings in Barassie.

There is also the paper mill trains which use 453.550 on 127.3 while maneuvering.

I haven't heard the Colas fuel trains in Prestwick if they have radios, it's too far from here.

Andrew

Not sure EWS (or DBS as they are now) ever used PMR446. Suspect you were getting FHH.

Thought DBS has pretty much pulled out of Ayrshire apart from diverted through trains. Certainly their 453.775 repeater at Falkland Yard went some time ago.

Colas use UK Gen 449 so one to check out when you at PIK.

FHH must be using a whole host of 446's. The yard in Barassie is a run around point for DBS, GBRf and FHH. I've been using realtimetrains to see what is in the yard when I hear anything. When the Deltic, 55022, Royal Scots Grey was hauling 334's from Yoker to Kilmarnock, it ran round it's load there too, it was on hire to GBRf.

They use the three UK Gen UHF channels, normally with DCS 315.

I've never heard that yet. I got a hit off them as the train was backing into the BP Oil siding across from Prestwick Airport. I purposely went out on Tuesday on a cycle run in conjunction with this charity ride I'm doing, to be going through Prestwick as it was getting there. An idle curiosity thing.
