SSE Hydro Electric

Postby JMB » Fri Nov 10, 2017 6:34 pm

I have not done any serious listening on the scanner for some time so a bit out of touch.

What are SSE Hydro Electric using for their comms now and what frequencies.

I was up at their Glenachulish site last weekend to take a few pictures for the MB21 website - Nevis Radio have a transmitter there.

The yagi will be Nevis Radio's receive antenna from their Fort William site at the top of the porridge pipes. I presumed the single folded dipole would be their transmit antenna and the pair of folded dipoles would be SSE but this has been questioned. Also what are crossed folded dipoles at the top? I have seen similar ones before and was told they are to receive telemetry from multiple sites but never had confirmation.

Anyone know?

The only other SSE ones I have and can confirm are for Fiddlers Ferry Power Station.... Only that's near Warrington and on DMR.
