Llanelli: Have I missed something?

Postby llrepairs » Fri May 27, 2016 8:43 pm

Dug out the scanner on Monday (now Friday) fired it off at my usual target frequencies and silence!
Have I missed something or has Llanelli turned into a complete black hole, I mean we're not exactly top of the tech list here and some places have only just heard of the invention of electricity but I cant help but question if I missed something?
Mastercabs - Gone
Storenet - Gone
WRT map search shows nothing as well (as reliable as that can be sometimes) only showing nationwide frequencies.

I'm going to have to give up this little hobby of mine if the only thing I can pick up is Debra asking Joan for a size 18 dress from the store room on PMR :sneer:

You're not trying hard enough.
"American 56" directly over you know (133.6) and I can pick him up in Birmingham!
I reserve the right to ignore people who have made no attempt to the read the manual, and expect others to do it for them.

I have just completed a quick search in the WTR for the Llanelli area and the 3 pages of results are in the link below:

http://tiny.cc/oe6rby

When searching in the WTR you are possibly not setting the search parameters correctly if you are only getting national stuff ie, selecting 'Business radio' as 'License type' and then in the drop down box below, select 'Business radio (technically assigned)'. Leaving the 'Between these frequencies' boxes blank will display licenses on all frequencies.

Also dont forget that some radio users in Llanelli may actually be registered out of the area (at head office for example) and more importantly the WTR is run by a government agency so is a pile of crap a lot of the time, but has proved to be quite accurate in my part of south Wales.

Interesting to note on the list are 'Storenet Radio Systems Limited', this is the same company that runs my local shop/pubwatch and are registered in Cardiff. They still use analogue in Caerphilly where I am at present and is busy day and night most occasions but of course it is possibly now DMR in Llanelli which is the way things seem to be going unfortunately.

Monitor the PMR light simple frequencies too. These are available nationally for any number of handhelds at a cost of £75 for 5 years, I seem to remember. It covers Low VHF through to UHF. So someone like Tesco's pays the same £75 for every store, warehouse etc, as say your local Builders Merchant.
The licence permits mobile use only, so handheld & vehicle mounted, 5 watts only . But no base stations.
Here in Norwich everyone from nightclub doormen to the local secure mental health unit uses these frequencies..

The busiest frequencies will be..

VHF 2
164.0500
164.0625

VHF 3
169.0875
169.3125

VHF 4
173.0500
173.0625
173.0875

UHF
449.3125
449.4000
449.4750

It's been a little while since i listened, picking up First travel in Swansea so know the setup is fine.
MasterCabs and Storenet seem to have gone dark.

Had a few blips on other channels in the preferred list but nothing spectacular.

Will have to keep playing.
Thanks for the responses though.
And a WRT search tailored for me, gosh I am being spoilt :P
