Antenna Window mount, under £3!

Postby essexRXer » Mon Feb 13, 2017 12:10 pm

Hi All,

I am now using an el-cheapo Mobile phone holder to support my Moxon and scan stick, it gives me the same height that I achieved when they were mounted on a pole. Now I have saved on coax length too!

The scan stick now performs better as I have trimmed the wire to imitate a dual band Ham antenna. It was a bit crap before then.

Nice one. Those heavier duty things that glaziers etc use can also be modified to good effect.

For example £10 from Screwfix & ebay does some really cheap single cup ones for under £5.

Tool station £2.98.

And Tool station does a Draper double cup for £5.65 & a triple for £8.99.

That's a good find Alan,

If this one perishes, I will pop off to Screw fix and get myself a triple pad!

They don't

However, if you pull the clip, it comes off the window.

What an excellent idea. I would love to have some sort of drawing how it went together. Would it hold a Watson2+70 about 3ft long.

What is the antenna & will it be on any sort of pole?
The weight of the antenna may not be much. But you try to hold even a few feet long antenna vertical in one hand at arms length for more than a few minutes, the pressure soon starts to show, then imagine that in varying wind conditions.
The advice as to what is best will vary antenna to antenna.
