will an antenna work upside down?

Postby Warbo » Mon Oct 23, 2017 1:32 pm

so i built a j pole and its great, i then saw an article to build a "ladder cable j pole" on ham universe and
figured if i cut it to airband like the copper pipe one i should get a similar result...but ideally it needs
to hang out my upstairs window when in use and it will be upside down. does this matter? or is it a
total no no.

The design put the main lobe between horizontal, or a smudge below, going upwards. So reversing it will limit the performance as it hangs vertically. As the house block the signal from 180 degrees of the circle, you could try angling it back a bit to raise the angle in the best direction?
