GRE PSR 295 STRANGE FAULT

Postby Warbo » Fri Nov 10, 2017 1:28 pm

So my psr 295 works great, plugged into either an airband dipole outside or copper j pole in the attic. picks aircraft and scottish controll as clear as a bell...but..
i notice that during reception there is like a pulsing loss of the strong signal every 3 seconds. the signal indicator flicks off and i loose the voice for about 1/4 second. does it on all frequencies weak or strong. on a longish transmission this gets annoying. any ideas folks, tried a watson 881 as well and it still does it? weird

Does it do it when away from your home or when not on an external antenna. Also is it connected to a mains power supply & does that have any effect when not in use?
My guess would be that it is some kind of interference.
So start by using in it in different ways, to see if that changes things. A large antenna could simply be overloading the front end due to some local QRM.

Check that your 'Priority' isn't switched on.This causes the scanner to check every few seconds if the priority channel is busy.I could be miles off,but worth a check.
