Excellent radio...I have two old Realistics myself & very little comes close to them on simplicity & sensitivity for the money..

And not being exactly on the frequency required is not the end of the world, so don't worry.
First step is to reset the scanner this is on page 13 of the above manual...
To do this turn the scanner off, hold down both the Zero & the Clear buttons as you turn the radio on...
To program channels is, first make sure the key pad lock is set to off & then..
Press manual.
Enter required frequency, making sure the
Press enter.
If error appears, just press clear & repeat. If error appears again, check the scanner will scan that frequency.
After entering the frequency, you can then set for AM or FM...
If you want the scannert to pause on that entered frequency for a second or two at the end of a transmission, press pause.
Band scans are also childs play..This is called a limit search.
Press program.
press limit.
LO appears.
Enter lower frequency
Press limit
Hi appears
Enter higher frequency.
press enter.
To store found frequency press MON button, or press up or down arrow to scan past it. To stop scanner on active frequency, just turn squelch off.
press the up or down arrow & turn squelch to stop noise, scanner is now scanning between upper & lower frequency.
