A little update...

I enjoyed using this to monitor POCSAG paging, but the Raspi only uses multimon-NG to decode them, rtl_sdr can decode FLEX, which is a little busier. This is a little to heavy for the PI, I ran Jessie to install the sdr dependencies, but I kept experiencing segmentation faults, so I used an old pc with ubuntu installed and I use this unit to decode and use my Tablet to view the output.

I plan to use my PI now as a single channel receiver, but input the frequency with a tablet via bluetooth so I can operate is from a car away from wifi.

great post... I have used the RTLSDR for about a month and found it a pretty good bit of kit... I have just bought the Airspy (waiting for it to be delivered)
