Uniden BC200XLT Battery help ?

Postby techy111 » Mon Dec 08, 2014 9:20 am

Hi all :smiles: my name is Tony and live near Heathrow and I'm just starting out. I've purchased a 30XLT for air band scanning and should get it by Wednesday.
Also got a Uniden BC200XLT for 15 quid. The only problem I have is the battery is dead. The prices are extortionate as I can only find them in the USA. My question is, is there a replacement battery in this country or can I open up the battery cover and replace the batteries myself?
Looking forward to your help and advice and hopefully this is just the start for me

All the best

Tony

I believe Nevada are the UK importers of Uniden, so you could give them a call, also people like Knights-electron in Lincolnshire are always worth a call as they may be able to source the batteries in the UK.

Nevada give the following details on their website..

E-mail: sales@nevada.co.uk
Telephone: (023) 92 313090

For knights..

sales@kcb.co.uk
Tel. (01652) 648378

Make you own pack, use the old wire and connector, get 6cells, some heat shrink and tabs. If overlander are still around they should have it all. Google overlander.

I think the making of Nicd packs are banned in the Eu now, just get some 1.2volt cells x 6.
An easy way to explain MAh is how long that cell lasts, the higher the MAh the longer you will get and just means your charger will take longer to charge it. If you dont think you can solder them and make the pack then give overlander a ring and am sure they will make you a pack if you send them your old 1. (If they are still trading)

Ah yes thats a good point, no i dont think the Nicd charger will! Depends on how old the charger is as some nicd chargers work off a fully charged set time so they may not completly charge the Nimhs.
