Suggestion for a good Scanner / receiving book

Postby JGR » Wed Nov 30, 2016 1:51 pm

My father in law has just decided to get into scanning. It will be mostly military and aircraft but you never know what else he may find.
Any way I have bought him the scanning directory from here, but I do need some suggestions on a good starter book for a total newbie and one that is relatively up-to-date.
So throw me your ideas please.

Last year I bought the book : Scanners 7 by Peter Roose and Bill Robertson.
It's not a new book but I found it very useful when I started listening again after a few years of inactivity.

Thank you for that suggestion and at a publication date of 2013 it is more than modern enough, in fact I have bought him a copy and myself a copy to see if I am missing out on anything else. :walkietalkie:

I found several Airband books in a charity shop several years ago & found them to be helpful. If your father in law is mainly interested in Airband, a reasonable airband book would probably help him a lot, knowing how & why they say or do certain things. I know I still check the book I kept from time to time.
