Hi Gazza. The 5R is a transceiver not a scanner & all you do is leave off the last digit on frequencies. So 123.4567, becomes 123.456 etc etc & you will not need any codes for RX.

Hello From Nottingham

Postby sidsabbath » Tue Oct 24, 2017 11:25 pm

Hi everyone,

My name is Matt and I'm a newbie from Nottingham. Well, I say I'm a newbie, as I've been dipping in and out of this hobby since the early 90's. Unfortunately things have drastically changed since the good old days where everything was analogue. I used to spend hours listening to the police, fire and ambulance services. I would on occasion even head on up to the 1.2ghz and listen to mobile phones
Nowadays I'm using a cheap and nasty tti hand held for mobile use and a Funcube dongle for home use. Now, here are where my problems start  What has happened to radio's? Everything is digital, trunked or Tetra :-| I've never been heavily in to how radio waves and systems actually work, I've always been more of a plug and play kind of guy. Now, I've got my Funcube all setup and decoding pocsag, flex etc, and all working very nicely  Could any of you please point me in the right direction with regards to software for decoding digital/trunked systems? Also any advice on how these systems work would also be appreciated. Also, do any of you meet up for a scanning session?

Thanking you in anticipation,

Matt

Hello Matt, welcome to the forum ..
The hobby has certainly changed down the years, sometimes for the better & sometimes for the worse.
How do you get on with your Funcube? The big gap where Mil Air is, puts me off using one as my go to RX.
For decoding take a look at
