Just signed up and getting my post count off zero ;-)

So hello to everyone who is already here...and those that join later.

Got interested in radio when I was a kid and pulled apart an old valve set.....parents weren't very happy about that. Rebuilt it, and yes, it still worked (...or mostly did anyway). Professionally trained for my job so took the RAE as well. Recently got back into a bit more general scanning.
Have a large collection of receivers valves to SDR.

Welcome from me too. It's good to see another valve enthusiast..I also got interested via the old domestic valve sets, both by pulling them apart & by tuning around to try & find all those wonderful & mostly foreign place names they had on the dials. I then moved onto 807 self oscillators etc etc.

Hi all just found this Forum so thought I had better pop in and say Hello.I have had a scanner since the mid 1980s,I think that was called something like a Gill SX200 ?? Sold that for a bearcat which i used until the 1990s,Then I tried several over the years until I found one i liked and kept which is a Realistic pro2004 I have 4 of theses with pre amps.Plus most of my Ham gear has a built in a scanner. So Im looking forward to the day I can buy a scanner which will encrypt Tetra signals at a realistic price. So hello to you all,From Just south of Birmingham. 8-)

Hi Allan, welcome to the group. among my scanners I use the Realistic 2006 & a couple of the handheld 200 channel pro-43's which I love.
Tetra is usable via a freeware PC download. But only if you don't want to listen to the encrypted version.
I have very fond memories of the West Midlands in the early 80's. That nice Mr Preston & all those great free radio stations. Paul at UK radio was a friend & I visited Sounds alternative a few times too. I also ran a P O Box that was used by a few of the other stations around your area. Good times.
