Army Cadets get freq-hopping handheld radios

Israeli-made handheld frequency-hopping radios are now in use by UK Army Cadets:

"over 3,000 PRC 710 VHF radios and amplifier sets and 150 PRC 720 HF man-pack radios"

This page says PRC 710 radios are frequency-hopping VHF radios with 5W power, or 20W with an amplifier:

Anyone have any idea what frequencies they will be using... or how many for that matter...?

If its not too many frequencies involved they should not be impossible to monitor...?

They're encrypted I believe on those radios.

Military VHF bands are:
29.7 - 47 (with a few exceptions)
72.8 - 74.8
75.2 - 76.7
78 - 79.9875
(83.5-83.9875 is vaguely defined, so unsure)
84 - 84.9875
138 - 142.975 (with a few exceptions)
149 - 149.8875
153.5 - 153.9875
(Technically 230 - 299.975 might be regarded as 'VHF', but as far as I understand it's primarily used for air/navy.)

As to the frequency step - who knows?

An SDR would likely help to spot any activity, but range will be relatively low.
