I wish mate. i have had some good decodes and all but it has been a lot of hit and miss and lately decoding has been bad so i give up for a while, not made any changes but its getting worse instead of better. I am in the crowd made up of the growing number of people awaiting these BFDX radios and thanks to you may be closer to getting one

Hi everyone.
A quick question for you all. Can the Dsd160 software decode the license free type digital on 446mhz?. Heard some kind of digital audio round about 446.1 onwards but could not decode.

Hi Kev

DSD does not currently decode dPMR 446 which is FDMA four-level FSK.

It will however decode the following modes:

MOTOTRBO (Motorola Digital popular in the UK)
NXDN/NEXEDGE (Kenwood, used in UK)
APCO 25 (Motorola digital modes, popular in US but not so popular in UK, used at Sailsbury Plain Mil)
EDACS Provoice (popular in USA)
Some other digital modes using C4FM/GFSK/FSK/QPSK modulation

Although it recognises D-Star it doesn't decode voice.

The developers of DSD (members of RadioReference) or others may be releasing newer versions soon, there have been some good improvements since it was born, at first it couldn't even be run on Windows and since a lot of errors and cleaning up have occured. Hopefully they'll be an update soon as it's been a while but the developer(s) seem to be a little recluse although we have a lot to thank them for.

Hi all,

I have DSD decoder in the bag now...easy to set once you get a grip  How do you get rid of the constant data sound in the background? I have seen other users just decoding voice without the mototrbo data sounds in the background

hi Sammy , if you go into the bottom right hand side corner of your screen and right click on your volume icon , then go onto recording devices then you will see your default recording device with a ticked box next to it .

right click on that then you will see properties click that then you will see listen , click on that then untick the box where it says listen to my device etc then click apply m8 ;)

Hello everyone.
I just want to pass on a wee discovery when using Rtlsdr dongles for turbo decode. I noticed recently that I could no longer decoded the local turbo frequencies. I thought that my dongle/dongles had lost the plot. The only thing that would work was my Funcube dongle pro. Downloaded update sdr# and it all started working again. So I started to compare the two sdr# on my pcand finally discoverd that I had set the bandspread to high for the rtl dongle. I had set it for 2.8mhz bandspread which caused audio dropouts. Reset it to 2048 and Bobs yer Uncle everything in the clear again. Hope this might help anyone who is having problems?.

Cheers Kev
