Big Changes: Ofcom online licencing portal..

Postby m0lsx » Sat Jul 30, 2016 3:47 pm

I have just seen the following on Facebook.

Having just found out that Ofcom have now released their new portal online for Amateur Radio Licensing I tried logging in and experienced what I thought was a block on my account. I've just rung them up and ALL existing account holders MUST re-register on this new system. All account details are still valid and present and you can use your existing email address but you MUST re-register in order to access your online account.

I was also told that the old rules of having to log in and validate your licence every 5 years is now NOT required. I questioned this and she said there is NO time restrictions on validating your licenses now, it has all changed. I've managed to re-register and log in and everything is fine regarding my personal details and licence.

For your convenience, here is a link for the Ofcom Portal Log-In page:
http://licensing.ofcom.org.uk/radiocomm ... -licences/…/

If you experience any problem, or indeed would like to confirm the above for yourselves, then here is the contact numbers for Ofcom: 0300 123 1000 or 020 7981 3131

Ofcom's system for logging in seems down at the moment - one portal works but doesn't accept my logins for ham or business services, and the other gives a service down for maintanance message. Could this be old info, Facebook dredged up?

You have to create a new log in. And then, looking at mine, it will not include the information on your old licence. So it will then take a phone call to sort it.

Mine's still broken. yesterday, they reset it and it would send me a new password email within 15 minutes. Today they told me the same, and then, although they can see my details, they can't trigger the new password request, so I can't log in. The only solution is to try again in a day or two. Not very good really - but both people I've spoken to are nice! (and somewhat fed up, I felt!)

Me too, nice young lady explained what to do,but the email they sent had a non working link,ie,it couldn't be clicked on from the email.I cut and pasted it and it asked me for a password, which it didn't accept.I went via the "forgotten password" route and put in my original password which it accepted and let me in.
Seems to work now.My licences still exsist.
Ofcom need to up their game a bit I think!

Things have gone downhill since the Radiocommunications Agency was scrapped.
The fact that OFCOM are now more interested in whingers moaning about what was on last night's "Big Brother" (or some other puerile shite), speaks volumes about the lack of government focus on important issues.
I reserve the right to ignore people who have made no attempt to the read the manual, and expect others to do it for them.
