Just bought this and 12v power adapter, looks a strange type of adapter on the rear of this. It ain't a standard socket type adapter this looks like a stereo plug, headphone plug, type hole on unit

I'm wanting to run this from my rig dc power supply, so need a small adapter to home brew, but don't know what it's called

Anyone got this atu

The MFJ power supply for the 949E is the MFJ-1312D. Personally I never use power on anything but radios, auto ATU's etc. Things that need power to use, all you will do is get a bulb & potentially some QRM from the power supply.
The more wires you add, the chance of QRM.
