Argos and ALDI headset frequencies ?

Postby Alfie » Mon Dec 19, 2016 9:06 pm

Does anybody know what frequencies the headsets are on that ALDI and Argos use ?

i know they both use different units and i have read somewhere that the argos ones are UHF somewhere just above pmr 446 but have not been able to find them yet and are guessing they are low power at around 500mw like 446. the aldi ones i have found nothing on yet.

i know what you may be thinking. why one earth would i want to listen to "open checkout 4" and "mop isle 3 as milk has been spilt" but please understand i spend a lot of time in the car waiting for the wife at both these places so would love to have a listen outside while waiting.

in argos your right their full duplex but thier in the 446mhz range but out of the pmr frequencys start scanning at 446.1 mhz to 447 and youl find them on the digi end of pmr allthough its a bit boring as they spend most of the time responding to a set pattern of computer generated questions.
in lidl its more peer to peer but havent sorted the frequency yet

from https://www.frequencydb.com/forum/index ... ic=16047.0

The above is the only info i can find about them anywhere on the web though it would help a lot if i could see one close enough to get the make/model number and then it should be easy

Hi,
They operate in the 860-880MHz bit of band depending whether they are Quail units or not. Also its digital

Hi mate

thanks for that and i think you might be right about the aldi ones they look like the Quail ones i just googled

argos though are different ones they are blue and fairly bulky. i notice the ALDI staff just grab a lightweight headset but for argos they need the headset and radio pack which i am sure is analogue UHF

Do you have a hand held scanner with close call?

If Argos are UHF analogue and you stand at the collection counter with it in your inside pocket I am sure it would pick it up quickly even at low power.

Image

i did a google image search for "argos staff" and found the image above which shows the guy on the right with one. its the best picture i could find and as you can see they are not analogue or quail headsets but some type of analogue ones. these have replaced pmr446 in all the stores i have seen recently

update so far on my findings

ALDI - Quail headsets (digital)
ARGOS - were 446 but now Unknown headsets (analogue and uhf i think ?)
MORRISONS - were 449mhz ukg but now some kind of dect phones (digital)
B & Q - uhf handsets (analogue)
TESCO - 449mhz ukg and 453mhz handsets (analogue)
WILKO - uhf handsets (analogue)
LIDL - Quail headsets (digital)
WAITROSE - PAGERS
ASDA - 449mhz ukg handsets (analogue)
SPORTS DIRECT - uhf handsets (analogue)
DEBENHAMS - Vhf handsets (analogue)

THE ABOVE ARE JUST MY FINDINGS AND MAY DIFFER IN OTHER STORES & AREAS
