Cheap Dipole

Postby deadite66 » Sun Jan 08, 2017 5:34 pm

i'm sure someone here mentioned buying a cheap rabbit ear aerial for usa use and using it as a dipole.
so for £3 delivered i bought one from aliexpress.

setup the right lengths and got it in the attic, so far performing much better than my disappointing Scanmaster B1300-N aerial at 166MHz.
Airspy R2 on a Discone
rtlsdr v3 on a choc bloc copper dipole.
Windows 10 and Antergos Linux.
Yupiteru MVT-9000 MKII telescopic ant.
RSP2 Pro currently unused.

That is a great idea, horses for courses I guess. They say they are for VHF use, but could it be shortened to 15cm or so for UHF band?

This is the one i ordered : https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1X-Universal-Antenna-Indoor-Rabbit-Ear-for-Color-TV-UHF-VHF-HDTV-with-150cm-Cable-Receive/32733657206.html

claims Frequency range 45-450 MHz

i pulled the round loop out (which was very easy) and unscrewed the base and snipped the unneeded wires.
