That sounds like Key Safe mode.

Press & hold the Function button as you turn the radio off.

if i try to reset radio by pressing 2,9, and hold at the same time while switching it on it just puts it into scanning 800mhz band

Sorry then, I cannot think of anything that will help, other than maybe letting the radio sit for a while without power & then try reset.

This really sounds more like at least one of your buttons isn't physically working correctly, possibly caused by the radio being dropped/moved about while in the post ?

- Have you tired connecting to a PC to see if you can remotely operate the scanner?
- Are you able to diagnose exactly which button(s) is not working? Is it all of the buttons that sit proud of the front panel?

At this stage, and based on what you've posted, I'd be taking at guess that the micro processor board has become misaligned/detached from the bits that connect to the buttons, and it's going to take some physical work to open up the scanner case to see if a fix is possible. But I'd recommend try the above steps first of all.

May be a stupid thought, but you haven't accidently locked out all your groups/systems have you ?I somehow managed that on the UBC800 and took ages trying to work out what had happened.I believe pressing and holding the lockout key returns all of the groups to be active. Also check that none of the buttons on the panel are stuck down.A known issue although not common is for the cable connecting the key pad to the main board th become dislodged so may be woth a check inside if all else fails. As already said well worth hooking up to computer to check.
