Just Bought A Uniden UBCD3600xlt

Postby Skirge » Thu Apr 06, 2017 2:52 pm

So I took the plunge and bought a UBCD3600xlt, a HUGEEE learning curve, never ever had a scanner like this. ANY advice helpful links would be hugely appreciated .

I know the supplied database is useless and the location setings as I am in UK (Tyne & Wear) looked on radio reference database but I am not a Premium member on there.

I have installed Sentinel and done the firmware update all fine, but is there a better software for programming this beast via the PC ?

Thanks In Advance Kris

Butel in Holland have a programme they sell (but you can try it first)

http://www.butel.nl/products/arc536/arc536.html

There is a Facebook group too - you have to apply to join

And there have been some useful posts on this forum too (-:

Umm no I don't think so - I trialled the Butel software using the cable that came with the Uniden (but I didn't buy it).

Take it you haven't uninstalled Sentinel? The Butel programme still relies on Sentinel to comunicate with the scanner . . .

Looking at one of these myself, any reason you chose this over a Whistler handheld? (if you don't mind me chiming in)

For me the main reason was frequency coverage which is continuous on the 3600 but not on the Whistler (eg TRX models do not have low band VHF 70-88 mhz) :smiles:

Are you running windows???? use the sentinel software from the handset!!! Good choice the 3600XLT. I'm sure the TRX1 is only a digital handset? but the 3600 does both analog/digital :)
Any questions just ask away!!

I don't know where you two get your information from
A search using Google over the manufacturers sites would have given you the correct information..
The TRX1 has coverage of 70-88MHz
All digital scanners also do analogue (FM)

Any more urban myths out there ?

Was just saying like...

I have been amazed that since the introduction of digital scanners a large number of buyers, even the experienced ones, have been like kids in a sweet shop.. 'the picture on this box looks better than the picture on that box', 'will it do digital ? OK I'll have it'...
Only after the purchase are the serious questions being asked and the limitations/strengths of different makes and models discovered.
There have been buyers discover that there are no digital users within range from their home - after spending £400 :shocker:
Then there are those that have been led to believe they would be able to listen to the Police again
And those that thought the scanner would be ready populated with frequencies and all they would need to do is switch on and enter their postcode - I kid you not :laughs:
