Theresa May - Jag outside No 10....

Postby USAFE501 » Mon Jul 10, 2017 5:35 pm

Hi Guys,
So parked outside No10 is the PM's Jag - Fitted with blues on the front grill and rear , but I notice on the offside rear wing a whip antenna , obviously fitted aftermarket , but looks to long for Airwave/Tetra...any ideas ?

Thanks
Kev

Something like this...
https://ukradioscanning.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=87

He followed us up on the car park roof at the BBC's HQ and - within seconds - a crackling signal burst out of the receiver: a Special Branch man began to tell colleagues the best way out of Kensington Palace, advising that the royal car steer clear of a burst water main holding up traffic.

Wey told us the codename used was for the Duke of Kent.

On the way to the roof, he had listened across moves to protect a visiting head of state, saying it was the President of Indonesia.

Number 10 cars use to be on 70cm. But thats going back many years.

I wouldn't just assume it's an antenna for a transceiver. It would need some research to confirm, but I'd expect most VIP vehicles such as this to have a form of ECM fit.

Could be anything from tracking to a traffic light changer! I expect it will have Airwave inbuilt.

Nothing important will have anything as obvious & vulnerable as an antenna.
When I did high security loads, even our vehicles looked innocent, with the security box covered by a curtain & the lock by a tail lift. The idea being who would suspect a rental company curtain sided truck.

There's one on either side. The PMs vehicle is reported as having a lot of onboard comms options.

The Queen's cars have had aftermarket aerials for a long time - usually VHF whips = which look very odd on a Rolls Royce!
