Moonraker m10 upgrades?

Postby Hutchie » Wed Aug 16, 2017 6:17 pm

Evening

Thanks for accepting my membership. Only recently got into radio scanning. Got myself a moonraker m10 handheld receiver. Cracking little unit which I cannot fault. I'm looking to extend the range, would it work with a skyscan aerial?

I'm only starting out so do not want to go too deep into it at the moment

When you say the Skyscan. Do you mean a desktop antenna? If so yes.
It would also work with a large outdoor antenna too. But that will cost many times what your radio does & I would imagine the M10 will over load very easily.
Overloading is where a strong signal over loads your scanner & makes it behave in ways you would rather it does not. For example signals popping up where they should not, or signals across the whole of the radios coverage being attenuated.

Thanks for that. My eventual plan is to hopefully buy a desktop scanner but I'm only starting and getting a feel for it so mainly using a small handheld for practice although doesn't have the greatest range of frequencies. You are correct it's mounted antenna for a desk.
