Understanding Banks

Postby Bassman » Thu Sep 14, 2017 3:32 pm

Hi

I have a Uniden Bearcat UBC125XLT into which I have input frequencies for my local airport between 118 and 125 MHz. These I placed in Band 1 and they work fine.

Now I've come across a manual for the scanner which shows different frequency ranges for the ten banks so making my believe that I should have placed my local airport frequencies in Band 5.

As I have close call enabled is that why I'm receiving while scanning Band 1.

Sorry if that sounds garbled, i'm just trying to get my head around it.

Thanks in advance

It is garbled.
You can put whatever freqs you want in whatever bank (not band) you want.
Close Call is a separate issue and not related to what bank you are using (though there is a Close Call bank into which it can place found frequencies.)
If you have Close Call on it works whatever bank you are using.
You may be mixing up scan banks and search banks. They are different things, just like drawers in your freezer are different to drawers in your beside cabinet.
I reserve the right to ignore people who have made no attempt to the read the manual, and expect others to do it for them.

A Bank is a collection of User Defined or Predefined (adjustable) or Predefined (fixed) frequencies.

The UBC125XLT has:

Scan Banks - 10 Banks of 50 Memory Locations (refered to as channels) - MUST be user defined/set

Search Banks - 10 Banks of Predefined Frequency RANGES - F1 to F2 - CAN be user changed/defined

Service Banks - 7 Banks of Predefined, NON changeable frequency ranges. The Banks are service orientated, e.g. CB, Marine, Air etc.
