I notice that the 888 is now replaced with the 999 - which looks similar. I've also found a few weird other radios in my chats with the Chinese firms I've dealt with, including a multi band mobile that covers bands we really shouldn't use (FM on 243MHz might be an issue??). I've ordered a few to have a look at, so once they arrive, I'll do a review. There's a dual band mobile that while only being FM, looks promising features wise with a low price too. I'll report back when they turn up.

My first 19 set included the VHF module which worked on 229 to 241 MHz.
At the time I lived a few hundred yards from the coast of the Wash, with a clear line of sight of the Lincolnshire coast which had & still has, a very active bombing range & I can confirm with absolute certainty & based upon personal experience. That the use of such frequencies is seen as something of an issue.

I have a uv 5r just bought it you can only imput six numbers and most.codesa are 7 i carnt set it up ir listen to anything can anyone guve me codes for teeside area which works wuth my radio please

If you have the radio set to 12.5KHz steps, for example, you don't need 7 digits. 166.337 automatically adds the little '5' on the end.

Thanks im just trying to sort it out to listening a few people use to charge a few quid to get all the channels on etc but hVent found anyone as yet

Unless you intend to transmit, you do not need any CTCSS or DCS codes. Just the frequency to listen on.

If it's frequencies you want, assuming you have no licence then 446 are about all you can use..

Actually, no, Someone interesting here is on 449.400, so is SportsDirect.com. I'd rather apply the tone to help hear something interesting than have it interspersed with people asking for shoes.

The council workers who patrol / clean the building I live in use 446 channel 5, so does the local primary school at break times. I'd rather apply DCS734 for the workers than CTCSS 67.0 for teachers talking about children falling over or which class is being allowed into the school next
