Hi all.....

Postby Sid » Sat Oct 14, 2017 7:17 pm

Just thought I'd say hi.

I have a few handhelds now which I generally just use for listening in.
Early next year I'll be taking the Foundation course, as I wish to be able to transmit asap.
Been mainly listening in to the Farnham repeater - some interesting guys on there, who sound a great lot.

I also quite enjoy listening to the airbands, as I'm an aircraft enthusiast.

Hopefully you guys won't mind me picking your brains when necessary (which may be often).........

Welcome to the forum Sid. I've only just joined here and am still reading the posts. Helpful and friendly here.

I gained my Foundation licence a few years ago but sort of sat on it while I learned more.

Thanks guys,

This really is an interesting and (difficult?) hobby.
I actually think I like it because it IS difficult and a steep learning curve. Makes it more challenging... :smiles:

Hello
Welcome Sid , nice to see somebody else with the same interests.
I have just registered here a few days ago and thought I would say hello to everybody. I have worked with scanner radios on and off for about 17 or 18 years now. my favourite radio is the Yupiteru MVT7100. I also have a Uniden UBC75XLT. I enjoy listening to airband, sideband and anything else inbetween.
I got my Foundation Licence earlier this year but will sit on it for a little while and get some experience from listening first.
Looking forward to hearing from everybody .

Welcome - a decent bunch of people here, and one of the few forums you can be honest and ask basic questions without the fear of a slap down. Many people Google, get loads of info, and it still makes little sense - so ask on here, and always get helpful stuff back. We don't always agree, and that's healthy, but it never gets snappy like it does on lots of forums.

Have fun!
