Radio Caroline are currently running test transmissions from their new Suffolk transmission site & the signal here in Norwich is amazing.

I did not expect that.... :biggrin:

I tuned in on my old realistic HF receiver not expecting to hear much.... 648khz and loud and clear I hear Eminem and Rihanna Love the way you lie.... :mrgreeny:

The song ended to a foreign speaking dj or whatever and another song now on.... not bad at all for central uk Nottingham....

Where exactly is Caroline transmitting from as I know its not our Suffolk and could not see location on the link....?

Some kind of Mexican song I think on now with accordions and foreign language.... :laughs:

It's a location just north of Ipswich in Suffolk UK. From the bottom of the A140 between Ipswich & Norwich travel a few miles East, the just past Otley Collage turn North for a very short distance & that is the antenna/transmitter site.

And the reason that the signal is so god is because it's lower down the MW band. So although the antenna is shorter & thus less efficient, the frequency it's self makes it a better place to get out from.
