Postby gchaddy » Sat Dec 09, 2017 7:07 pm

Hi im after a little advise if possible i have a uniden UBC75XLT and im using it on a external roof mounted antenna i pick up taxis airports and ive caught the odd feed from holyhead coast guard . i live in the northwest Bolton Near Manchester. i have been looking at getting a Uniden UBC355CLT or a Uniden UBC 360CLT.

would there be any benifits to any of these units , would they pick up more or drag in more and which unit would you advise out of the two
Thanks in advance Gary

Both the 355 & the 360 are very basic. Unless all you listen to are airband & marine band, you will find yourself upgrading very quickly & if it's airband that you want, then they are not 8.33khz, so they are not great there either. But having said that the 360 is currently only £32 from Craplins, so at that price, probably worth it. The 355, makes a nice basic scanner for the car. But I personally would not pay close to £90 for a new basic mobile scanner, when I could pay a similar price for a decent secondhand scanner. So & it just personal opinion, I would describe both as being very basic beginners scanners, that will be very quickly out grown.
But having said the above. At £30, I would buy one, as at that price I can sell it in 3 - 6 months time for the same price.

I would say neither are an improvement on what you have.
I paid about £70 for a spotless Uniden 230 not that long ago. It's the fore runner to the 125 & came with a couple of extra antennas too. I have a 3500 & a few other scanners & wanted a second, third if you count my 15X. Radio with close call.

I was going to go down the base station route but found there was more choice/at reasonable prices for handhelds. I bought a Uniden ubc-125XLT:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Uniden-UBC-125 ... ubc-125XLT

Its a little bit more than your current one but is a very good scanner. Good luck in finding what you want.
