Hoping someone can answer this really BASIC question with a BASIC answer.
Recently got back into CB's and shortwave radio's and to be honest, having suffered a stroke 5 years ago which had devastating affect on my memory capabilities, i am struggling to get my head around a simple question.
I have recently bought a Sigma Venom 5/8 Wave High Gain Silver Rod CB Base Station Antenna to be able to get some decent receives and do some transmitting in conjunction with a President Zachary (Uniden 300) base station.
Heres my problem, have wired on 2 PL259 plugs on each end, tested "Live to live" and "Ground to Ground" on plugs and then tested Live to ground on both ends, all does well.
But as soon as i connect one end to the antenna the plug on the base station end shows a short across the live to ground !!!!!!, is this normal, if not where on earth can i find the possible location of the short ?.
Need to plan this well as getting up and down a ladder with only one side of my body working takes some planning !!!!.
Thanks in advance
