I do not think there is that many CB users out there these days, out here in the sticks it would be a lonely place if you were a CB user and without a good antenna system you will hear nothing until the propagation allows international contacts then the band comes alive.

According to the Facebook groups there are quite a few and they run nets at weekends, but I bought a handheld to try and get back into it and in 12 months I've heard 2 people and spoke to no one

You will need an good external antenna to enable you to get the range unless you go out and seek the highest location above sea level as hand helds are some what limited in the range they cover, I honestly thought with the new legislation changes that some of the older CB users would come back on but I guess a lot of it has gone in favour of the text message and facebook. Too much nostalgia I think on my part

Plenty of CB'ers round here, they are the same individuals you hear on 2 meters.

With a lot of the diatribe of CB'ers over the years its probably best they do stick to fartbook and texting :laughs:

I'm not so sure. I heard a little cabal on CB discussing an upcoming amateur radio club committee meeting.

I was considering getting a new base antenna to replace the old one which is still there, and an SSB radio, maybe I should have done that instead of buying a multi handheld.
