Licence exempt use of mobile repeater devices.

Postby m0lsx » Sat Mar 19, 2016 1:33 pm

Ofcom has set out a series of next steps on the use of ‘mobile repeater’ devices

Repeaters retransmit and boost mobile signals. Until now they have been difficult to license, because of interference concerns.

Today’s document, which follows a Call for Inputs in August 2014, is focused on resolving those concerns with industry, so that Ofcom might allow consumers to put repeaters where they are needed to improve mobile coverage. These devices could play an important role in improving coverage inside buildings, vehicles, trains – and in more remote rural locations.

The recommended approach is based on industry stakeholders submitting to Ofcom devices that are not likely to cause undue interference to other mobile users.

This would allow Ofcom to identify the specifications and characteristics, and any conditions of use, required for repeaters of particular descriptions to be authorised for use in the UK on a licence-exempt basis.

Wait for the K.
Please Mr Ofcom make a law forcing Standard to bring back the C828M and Icom to produce the IC22A again, then outlaw this CTCSS rubbish and bring back 1750Hz, or teach me to whistle.
Happy days.
