Also the zoo, apparently. Failing that, Carrington Power Station in Manchester. I've only heard a radio check being asked for

Sounds like a capacity plus system, or a psudo trunk on hytera.

Quick way of telling - does it just change slot on the same freq, or does it change frequency through the conversation ?

It has channels, not slots. It changes channels.

Digital doesn't have channels, it has talkgroups.

And each repeater has 2 slots, per repeater. They can be used by more than one talkgroup.

That's why its important to notice if the conversation changes repeater or not - if its staying on the same repeater and alternating between slot 1 and slot 2, then its a single capacity plus system. If the conversation goes onto a different repeater, different frequency, then you've got a proper capacity plus system, and you may be missing repeaters from your list.

Capacity plus can be a bit weird sometimes - it sits using one repeater for most of the time, then moves around when you least expect it. Meaning if you don't have all the repeaters programmed in, you can loose bits, half, or all of a conversation. Usually at a time when the most interesting conversation goes on.

I'm listening via a discriminator tap in my Pro 2042, the readout on my laptop screen says channels, it also says which slot if that's what it is. I've mentioned channels before on more than this thread. Minus the talk group, I put on here what comes up on screen. I'll wait until it comes up again, but being New Years Day it might be tomorrow, when I will be in Liverpool and Warrington.
