Newbie from Norfolk

Postby Uv9r » Tue Jan 02, 2018 8:52 pm

Hi to you if you’re reading this post
Ive had hand held scanners before, back in the day when you could listen in to the emergency services :shocker:
Having just purchased another scanner (realistic hyperscan pro 26) some 20 years on from my first experience ,I know I can no longer listen into the police /ambulance / fire , but please could someone tell me if there’s is anything worth listening to these days?? I live in the Taverham area of Norwich Norfolk and would really appreciate any freq’s that I could input directly , it seems that nothing is broadcasting these days . Not sure if it’s the area I’m in or the scanners range,I have 2 aireals one is the standard rubber duck and the other is a telescopic type with a coil in the Center.
Any advice would be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance Sean :walkietalkie:

Hi Sean. I am just the other side of the Airport from you & there is still plenty to listen too.

Have a look at
https://ukradioscanning.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=325

The best ones to start with are..

119.350 Norwich Int. approach.
124.250 Norwich Int. Tower
128.325 Norwich Int. Radar.
145.625 Norwich's 2 meter amateur repeater.
164.4375 Kerley recovery. (Norwich & Gt Yarmouth.)

Fireground freqs are still analog.
Try 457.0375 for starters.
(Only active when there is an incident near you.)

A lot of shopping centres / retail areas run their own security these days, probably 453.0 - 456.9875 in your area.

157.65 FM (Marine:33) Norfolk Broads Authority (also Broads Police in summer)

130.625 Norwich Airport Ops
131.4833 ('131.485') Shanex Ops Norwich Airport
The ATC transmitter at Trimingham may be in range, try 128.125

Norfolk is not bad for military activity.
Start with 259.6 and 133.325 (Swanik Mil East ICF)
Also
233.725
269.475
252.975

You will find that an antenna on the roof, or in the loft, will boost reception enormously compared to anything attached to the scanner.
I reserve the right to ignore people who have made no attempt to the read the manual, and expect others to do it for them.
