Hi I have ordered one from Amazon with cable I like to listen to most things I know you can manually key in or software it's al New to me and thought I best ask first

You can not "key in" on the Bf888 they have to be set by software via a cable and you will only be able to hear UHF signals.
You will have to download a program to set them (found online free eg. CHIRP)

If you have a licence then it could be configured to be used on that licence, the same as other radios can be.

Ok when you say license you don't mean ham is it for the likes of pmr. Can anyone get one and what does it take to get one ?

There are several different business user licences available ranging from £75 for 5 years up to just under £10,000.
Simple UK light can be used by not just businesses but also "Incorporated Groups" that is a group of individuals who share a common interest & costs £75 for five years. You must apply directly to Ofcom for these licences & only after being approved will you be asked to pay the fee.

You can apply as an individual as well. I just put my name, address and other details (no mention of company or organisation) and got approved right away
