Martyn Lynch: Cyber attack.

Postby m0lsx » Wed Feb 01, 2017 4:30 pm

I have just had the following email from MLS..

For customers visiting our website over the last weekend (up until yesterday, 31st January) you may have experienced difficulty in accessing our site and worse still been presented with a screen informing you “have been banned”

This was due to a serious "Denial Of Service” attack on our main web server.

This attack severely restricted traffic flow resulting in our Ham Radio site grinding to a halt.

Unfortunately, whilst this was taking place, (instigated by either a company or individuals), the message “you have been banned” appeared.

This of course was not intentional and I personally fielded emails, Facebook and Twitter communication informing customers they had not been banned in any way and our website was under attack.

This is the first time HamRadio.co.uk has been compromised and it took our web engineers three days to rectify the problem and restore its operation.

You may still find our URL http://www.MLandS.co.uk is not working correctly however, http://www.HAMRADIO.co.uk is.

We are still finding areas that are causing a few issues and if you find a problem, wish to discuss a product or place an order, then please email us at sales@hamradio.co.uk or call 0345 2300 599. For our international customers dial:
+44 1932 567 333.

Please ensure that you clear the cache in your
browser when trying to view our Hamradio.co.uk website as it may continue to show no connection.
