Radio Caroline are currently running test transmissions from their new Suffolk transmission site & the signal here in Norwich is amazing.

I did not expect that....

I tuned in on my old realistic HF receiver not expecting to hear much.... 648khz and loud and clear I hear Eminem and Rihanna Love the way you lie.... :mrgreeny:

The song ended to a foreign speaking dj or whatever and another song now on.... not bad at all for central uk Nottingham....

Where exactly is Caroline transmitting from as I know its not our Suffolk and could not see location on the link....?

Some kind of Mexican song I think on now with accordions and foreign language.... :laughs:

It's a location just north of Ipswich in Suffolk UK. From the bottom of the A140 between Ipswich & Norwich travel a few miles East, the just past Otley Collage turn North for a very short distance & that is the antenna/transmitter site.

The map for Otley Collages location is below.

And the reason that the signal is so god is because it's lower down the MW band. So although the antenna is shorter & thus less efficient, the frequency it's self makes it a better place to get out from.
