I was just watching Car Crime UK on a satellite TV channel & they showed a CCTV operator finding several crimes on his monitors & then reporting them to the Police on his cheap licence free 446 radio!!!
The give away was the size of the radio & the moulded short oblong antenna that was part of the radio case.
So clearly genuine CCTV footage, but shown in a totally dishonest manner as there is no way that CCTV operators would report crimes over a open to the public radio system.

I don’t think that operator is in any danger Mols, I’ve still never heard a thing on 446 ever!

Sadly it looks like we’re going the way of the Spams with TV crews making things up

Years ago I was working on Songs of Praise, and they used to cheat every week, where the people in the church would mime - we had back the Sir Harry Seacombe who could really sing - but we never had the time to do it live, so he'd mime to playback in the churches, or sometimes he'd be singing walking across the moors or strolling along a river bank. Nobody ever noticed, even though he was a pretty dreadful lip-syncing actor. He could have sung live, but there was no time. The audiences in the churches couldn't;t work out what was happening. If you ever see old top of the pops shows, often the radio microphones are ordinary mics, with the cable chopped off a few inches out of the connector nobody noticed.

The biggest give away are the drums, I am told. A friend who does, or did, sound engineering. Tells me that the drums are the hardest to wire for sound & thus no one is ever going to put the effort into getting that right, just for a mime session.

Two of the best fakes I have ever seen were for short news items.
Incident one relates to a West Midlands unlicensed TV station called Telstar. The regional TV show & I belive the national news show, Nationwide, did a live interview with a local DTI officer, who was filmed in the street, mid week, talking about what they were doing & saying they had men out right now working on tracking down these despicable pirates. Telstar only broadcast late at night on a Friday/Saturday night. Yet there they were, out on a mid week teatime, suggesting they were doing something right then.
Incident two I was involved in. The TV news wanted to show a so called Pirate Radio station being set up, but they did not want to ask us to do it for real & we did not want to get set up for an easy bust. So it was agreed it would be mid week & a simulation of what we did. We used a Leak Audio amplifier instead of a real 48 meter transmitter.

I got in trouble years ago with amateur TV. From here on UHF we could get into Holland easily. It was a bit unfriendly because the signal was virtually the entire 10 megs of the ham band, but with a 19 element beam, we would regularly bore the pants off everyone. One day, I got doorstepped at home by a reporter, who I invited in to see it work. They got very bored with test cards and talking heads, and asked what we could do? I said I suppose I could open the window and point a camera out at Lowestoft. They took me literally and "Our programmes would commence next week with a documentary about Lowestoft". My next visitor was the Radio Investigation Service, infuriated I was transmitting TV programmes in clear breach of the licence terms. Luckily, they understood. They did however test my power output, and check the band edges were within the ham band, which only by luck, they were.

A mate & I had a period where we ran a VHF FM station for the Boston area. A small 5 Element beam sent the signal across the Wash & with either Sand dunes or Hunstantons Cliffs behind us, it would have made the DTI's job rather difficult finding us. As they would have been able to DF us from Linconshire, but not North West Norfolk
And the West Midlands TV station from the mid 80's (Telstar,) was as I understand it, using a 2 or 3 watt ATV TX & the DTI threw a lot of time & effort into catching them.
