A Newcastle based member of a FB group also reported 242.200 today. Tornados using callsign Mankini.

Agree with comments about not trusting lists. No matter how well meaning many are more wrong than right for the reasons explained.

Maybe it was the Reds practicing for a night display.

Great correction Ben. Just proves the point that a well meaning post was wrong as he mis-heard what was being said.

Still laughing at thelads intervention. Thought that they have a secret frequency for night displays?

242.2 definitely a Marham 9 squadron air to air and entirely possible that your listening to Marham Tornado comms from N. Ireland as they often operate in pairs (or more) over West Wales.

Can somebody confirm that 125.625 is in use as Air to Air frequency?

Not in the Uk. Have it listed as Heathrow.
Never heard them use Vhf for Air / Air always using their Uhf allocation.

125.625 is Heathrow Radar, listed by NATS as "VFR and Special VFR flights in the London CTR and the London City CTR/CTA. DOC 60 NM/ 20,000 FT."

I suspect somebody heard the Red Arrows on that freq whilst they were transiting London, and grabbed the wrong end of the stick. :mrgreeny:

I've only ever heard them using 243.45 during displays. This is their 'Stud 20'.

I've occasionally heard part of the squadron use 307.075 when travelling between airfields. This is their "Stud 19'
I reserve the right to ignore people who have made no attempt to the read the manual, and expect others to do it for them.
