Cardiff docks frequencies

Postby BCFCCIDERHEAD » Thu Aug 07, 2014 9:55 am

Hi guys, first post so please be gentle.
As I work in Cardiff docks and got me a nice new scanner ( uniden 125xlt) I was wondering if anyone knows any marine frequencies for the docks etc, or where I can find them
Thanks

CH0 and 99 are used by the coastguards, 16 is the emergency. If you listen to 16 they will tell you to go to x channel for a weather report, they do this every hour, save the other channel in as well and you will hear the weather report. They will say something like this "For a weather report in Cardiff go to Ch x"

Quick internet page brings up this page http://www.cardiffharbour.com/content.a ... ctory_id=1

and it says

When on your final approach to Cardiff Bay Outer Harbour you should call Barrage Control on VHF Channel 18 to request a lock in.

So program CH 18 in aswell.

If you ask locals, or other people who work there they will be able to suggest other channels that are used.

A full list of the channels can be found on this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marine_VHF ... requencies

Just had look on my scanner, only had it Tuesday mind ;)
It scans the marine band and when it picks something up it displays the channel number as well as frequency.... Happy days

Nice one :walkietalkie:

Are you using a rubber duck antenna? You could get a scanner antenna to stuck on your car and it should pick up a lot more.

Yeah a fair bit, marine channels are good have all the local boats within the area.
I mainly use it for Airband and have been getting Yeovilton Tower and a few air to air stuff, had the Typhoon yesterday out of Bristol for its display at Bristol balloon festival, this arial makes a big difference
