Thinking of buying my first HF transmitter.

Got my M6 licence around 4 years ago...only worked vhf/uhf for a short period.

Not be active for a couple of years now....I was a very keen SWL till around 10 years ago.

Not sure what to expect from HF these day...and if its worth the investment.

It was going to be a retirement present to myself....would love to try hf tx to see if I like it.

But I fear local QRM could be a problem these days with the huge amount of electronic devices most homes have.

I live in a quite crowded urban area.

So are my QRM fears grounded or am I worrying about nothing.

Your fears are well founded, but you may still be able to work HF. I find the higher bands are OK to work where I am & I am in the middle of a housing estate. 40 meters is workable sometimes & 17 & 10 nearly all of the time, the same with 20 meters.
Things like a good DSP filter such as from BHI can also make life much easier.

Oh dear...that does not sound to promising.

80mtr interests me as does top band but not enough room for a top band antenna.

Wonder if there is a test for my QTH to see what its like before I was lots of money.

Nick.
