Ham International Jumbo 1

Postby 2E0UCW » Sat May 31, 2014 3:30 pm

I've come in possession of the above radio and am looking for any info on this (such as a manual) - does anyone have anything they could share with me?

I've located the website (http://ham-international.nuxit.net/JUMBOEng.htm).

It's also missing the knobs for the power and mic gain switches and needs a good cleaning as it's been in a storage (without a box) for a good few years.

Any idea what a radio like this is worth? I'm more into amateur radio (busy doing my foundation licence) so keen to sell (if can be collected from UB7 due to weight) as I'm looking to purchase a dual VHF/UHF aerial for my kit at home.

I have a Ham Int mobile that has been converted to a 10 meter radio. So you could use it legally on the ham bands, with a bit of work.
I believe the Jumbo is a mobile radio in a big box with a poor quality power supply added. My mobile is not bad & only cost me about £20, so if you want knobs etc they can be found fairly cheaply as part of a scrapper.

Blimey, I remember them as I borrowed one back in the 80's when I was using AM CB.

Is this any good: http://www.radiomanual.info/schemi/CB/C ... o_user.pdf

Thanks Lawrence.

The plan now is to finish cleaning it up.

I don't have an aerial but I'll put a plug on it and check that it starts up.

Just wondering if it's possible to sell or more like would anyone be interested as I'm looking to get funds for a good VHF/UHF (2m/70cm) aerial for home.
