Hello just wondering if any one can tell me please . do you need to put all the metal long things in
AS putting on to window ledge by window. and do not think will fit with them all in
If it has the rubber ducks all in and some of the metal long things in will it effect picking up channels :smiles:

I think what you are referring to are the counterpoises..
All antennas theoretically comes in two parts. The part that transmits or receives & the other half of the antenna.
The second part of the antenna does not always get included in antenna designs or radios. It is called the counterpoise & the simplest description is to say that in effect it acts like friction to the radio signal allowing more signal to get some grip & thus into & out of the antenna.
With some antennas there is no second part as such & they still work, just not as well. Your scanner, as an example, uses you & the scanners circuit board as the counterpoise. That is why sometimes the signal is better when you are holding it.
So yes take them off, you may notice a difference, but probably not.

It does not have to be there no, in the loft would be better, as height counts, when I use my desktop discone I sit it in the corner. A window just makes signals from that direction have a wall less to go through.
