Alinco DJX10 Problem

Postby airfixpilot » Wed Sep 24, 2014 11:07 am

I would like help on an ALINCO DJX10. It has not been in use for a year, and when I switched it on, after charging the batteries, it came on and FROZE, with all the icons showing. Do you think it could be made to work again, and how do I do this? Maybe reset or some type of a tip?... It was ok when last I used it year ago. Any idears would help?

You may need to loose everything programmed into it. But I would suggest doing a Factory Restet. It is not uncommon to need a reset after a scanner has been left unused for a long period.
Look in your manual on page 35. It is item 3.2.10... Resetting the receiver.
If you have lost your manual, the following is a pdf copy that you can see on line, or down load.
http://www.alinco.com/pdf.files/Instruction/Handheld/djx10insweb.pdf

You have two options on the DJ-X10.
Systems which is a good first try.
or
All if the first fails.
With the Systems, you keep all your programmed channels.

Hi De Alan.

Thanks for that info. I will give it a try, when and if I win the radio. Is it true most stored radios/scanners lock them self when stored for a long time, and need to be reset??. I have just bought an Realistic pro43, without an antenna for £8+p&p, and awaiting delivery.. I guess most people buy like this and get a bargin  I then jut download the manual and read on how to reset or troubleshoot  , on the scanner I am bidding for :smiles:

Locking is a risk & normally all it takes is a reset & often the manual will tell you it is a risk & suggest the reset as a solution to replacing batteries after a period of no use.
I have several Realistic pro 43's & they are a great scanner. The only real fault they have is that the keypad stops working. But this is easily solved. You take the radio to pieces & put some of that liquid you can buy for repairing heated rear windows on the underside of each of the buttons.

Hello again,
I thought I would show you the reply from the guy I am intending to buy the Alinco off. This may give you an idea of how to solve.

Thanks for your enquiry, I took the radio out of the box, (stored without battery) charged and fitted battery , switched on , it went through start procedure, then screen froze and the buttons, tried factory reset(no change) bleep coming from some buttons, as they are multi function I cannot remember wich- hope this helps.

ANY good??

Sounds like it will not reset as how to reset it is well documented in the manual & if it would reset, he would earn more, than if it were faulty.
Personally unless it were VERY cheap, I would stay clear.
