Aviva Premiership Rugby Ref in a box

Postby Garnett-Devon » Fri May 19, 2017 5:45 pm

I am new to the forum. My scanner was a constant companion for many years when I was a Coastguard.

I regularly attend premiership rugby games at Exeter. I have one of the ear pieces that they sell for you to hear what the referee and the officials are saying. It also lets you listen to the TV and Radio coverage.

I was wondering whether I could use my old PSR 282 to listen in? Any idea of the frequency used?

Take a look at...https://ukradioscanning.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4813

If those frequencies are accurate then your 282 should hear them. BUT, beware of security who may object to your "radio" being an issue with them.

The gizmos they sell for the commentary and things like that are re-broadcasting the ch 38 link. It can therefore be sanitised if necessary. Anything with a wideband setting will do - channel spacing ideally 50KHz, but that doesn't really matter.

If you put your scanner on search, put it in an inside jacket pocket and have earphones in, it will soon pick it up providing it's in the range you have programmed in. I used to do that, I never found the link for the referees, I'm not sure they had that back then. I found the frequencies for team staff in the crowd relaying messages to the dug out.

I was a steward at the time... If I could get away with it, anyone could....
