Postby Jumbo » Tue Jun 03, 2014 8:41 pm

I have finally taken the plunge and bought myself a uniden ubc 3500 xlt scanner, when I turn the scanner on it asks, Band 1 band 2 or band 3, I'm not sure which one to use, can anyone advise.
Thanks :)

I think its band plan 3 which works best mate. Thats what ive always switched my unidens to.
Maybe others use different but i think 3 is best..

I can't recall why, but research suggests Band 3 in the UK.

Band 3 is the one to use
Are you using bctools to program it its a lot easier then doing it manually.

Thanks very much for the advice on Band 3 guys, and Band 3 it will be from now on
No John I don't have bctools, I guess it is something I will need although I don't know what it is
I have ordered a Watson ariel as I read on here that it will be better than the rubber duck the scanner it came with
I've started to read the manual what came with the scanner, but I'm really struggling to understand any of it
Does anyone know of a resource which will help
Thanks :)

Hi try this for a easier to understand manual.
http://marksscanners.com/3500/3500.shtml

bct tools is a free program so you can input frequencies on your computer than send to your scanner
a lot quicker than doing it manually especially when you alpha tag the frequencies.
If you need any more help pm me regards john

Hi Jumbo don`t forget you will need this cable off ebay.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Uniden-Bearca ... 1c41395605

If you have trouble setting up when you connect scanner let me know, but you can still run program without scanner just to get a feel for the program and you can
start inputting frequencies into the program while you wait for your cable, plus i can always send you a file you can open up with bctools to see how you can organize your scanner.
