Brazilian Truck drivers on sat com illegally

Postby G4RMT » Mon Jan 01, 2018 7:14 pm

I had a note on one of my youtube videos to an example of Brazilian Truck drivers, way outside normal radio or phone comms range illegally using the military comms satellite - can't understand what they say, but interesting they get away with it.

There's a story out there that some clueless Brazilian emigrated to New York, and decided to continue hacking US Military satellites, as he had done in Brazil.
Not surprisingly, it wasn't long before he had a knock on the door from the FCC

Comes through easily on RTL SDR with a simple dipole, making use of the pre-amp in SDR#

Often verticals are OK on satellites, but it does depend upon how high they are above the horizon. The higher they are the less efficient a vertical is.
There are other military satellites available & some can be worked from the UK, if you do not mind the possibility of a little hassle.
