New uk fireground digital bandplan.

Postby bigboyblue » Thu May 24, 2018 5:33 pm

Just reading this months copy of emergency services times, and there is an article in there about the fire services new digital radio channel bandplan for fireground radios.

They are adding another 2 frequencies, moving ch3 and ch6 around, and have confirmed its dmr tier 2 - so no nxdn use.

No idea what the actual plan is yet, it may take an foi request

EDIT: I lie, its here:

I was in Lancashire earlier this week, they use 457.0375 on DMR. The same as channel 1 on Fm, only on non encrypted DMR, so still in the clear.

No attempt to more away from frequencies which are increasingly plagued with illegally used US FRS/GMRS radios. Remarkably clueless.

There are plenty of vastly underused frequencies in UHF military bands which could be shared with the MoD fire service. But that would require some initiative - something seems completely lacking in OFCOM these days.

These frequencies in the same bands appear unused (again) - why?

This page also lists 450.1 and 464.1 as ch 7 and 8 which contradict channel numbers I have heard used.

And this page has 469.9 listed for BA telemetry (something that used to be on 862.9625 then 869.5)

The new channel plan sets now have privacy option enabled which can be selected if required at incidents.
As and when they will use it, will be another matter.

Would be interesting if different Fire Authorities purchased different makes of radio - as not all makes can communicate with each other with encryption enabled :(

Where is this detailed please ?. I cant seem to find it on the bandplan.

A couple of weeks ago I was making codeplugs for fire radios. We have to keep to the national bandplan and aren't allowed to put privacy on the standard fireground channels.

And as metradio has said, different services are purchsing different radios. So would be incompatible with privacy on.

I call scaremongering.
